October 9, 2014 Friday Parent Letter

October 9, 2014

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Happy Thursday!  We have had a fantastic week with MAP testing.  The majority of our students are focused and doing their best work!  As previously mentioned we will use their student performance data from MAP and teacher assessments to build their learning plans for the year.  Thank you for attending Parent/Teacher conferences this week to discuss your child’s learning goals; we sincerely appreciate your commitment and support!

Next week we have two important events for your participation. Tuesday, October 14th at 6pm, will be our Parent Ambassador meeting and Thursday, October 16th is our School Board meeting at 6pm.  You are invited to join both meetings.  Our Parent Ambassador Meeting is an important time to discuss ideas and strategies to improve, evaluate our School Improvement Plan progress, and recognize student citizenship and attendance achievement.

We are proud to announce our Dentist R Us bus is returning to GSTEMA on Thursday, October 16th to provide dental service for all our children K-6th.  You will need to complete the dental form and return by Tuesday, October 14th for your child to be seen by the dental team.

Unfortunately, our After School program start time has been delayed as we secure facilitators and activities for our program.  I’m excited to announce we have parent volunteers signing up to offer programs for our students.  We need patient, dedicated, and skilled coaches to offer various sports to our children.    If you are interested in coaching or facilitating a program please contact the office.

Wednesday, October 22nd the school will be going on a science learning field trip to Montrose   Apple Orchard!  Please, complete the permission slip and return with $5.00 to help with the cost of our trip.  If you have questions, please contact the office.

Parents we need your support with bus safety.  We have experienced numerous incidents of students not being safe on the bus; out of their seat, hitting other students, not listening or following the bus driver’s instructions.  Remember students who are out of their seat, hitting other students, or fighting will be suspended from the bus.  Our goal is to keep all children safe.  If you have concerns regarding the bus feel free to call us or contact MTA at 810-767-0100.  You will need the school name and bus route number.  Mr. Chris Schoemann is the supervisor.

Parent/Teacher Conferences – Thursday, Oct. 9th 4:30-7:30pm and Friday, Oct. 10th 9am-4pm

Have a wonderful weekend!
