Welcome to Kindergarten!!!

I am so excited to begin a brand new school year with your child at Genesee STEM Academy.  Kindergarten is such a wonderful year!  We will be learning letters, numbers, counting, reading, writing, and printing as well as science and social studies.

20150526_144837_copyMy name is Cathy Lesinski, and I have been teaching students of all ages for the last 17 years.  I have been a classroom teacher in grades K, 3, 4, 7 & 8 (science and art).  I also have worked as an Academic Interventionist for the past 2 1/2 years for 3, 4, &  5 (reading and math).

I earned my master’s degree from Saginaw Valley State University in Educational Leadership, Curriculum design and implementation, and my bachelor’s degree in elementary education was earned from  Eastern Michigan University, and I am certified K-8 in Science (DX) and Fine Arts (OX).  I am very  excited to announce that I became STEM certified through STEM.org this summer, and I can’t wait to introduce problem based learning experiences with your children.

Our lunch time this year is 11:50-12:20p.m. I will be giving the students a snack break around 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m every day.  Your child may choose to bring in their own snack or I will be passing out snack through parent donation. Some snack ideas are: animal crackers, goldfish crackers, fruit snacks, and pretzels.  Your child may also bring in a water bottle.  THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!

REMINDER – We are a PEANUT FREE school!!

The first week of school we will be learning lesson with ur friend Pete the cat.  Please ask your child what Pete the cat taught them each day.
