November 14, 2014 Friday Parent Letter
November 14, 2014
Happy Friday! Students are engaged in learning about Native American history as we prepare to celebrate their culture with various exciting activities on Friday, November 21st. The end of our 1st Trimester and 2nd Marking Period ends Friday, November 21st.
Our After School Programs started late; therefore we end Thursday, December 4th. Please, mark your calendars. The second session will begin Monday, January 12, 2015.
The Caring Creative Citizens after school program is partnering with the North End Soup Kitchen. We will be selling wall ornaments for $1 each. You can purchase the ornament cards from Mrs. Blaharski in room 9 or from your child’s classroom teacher. You will be able to put your name on the ornament and the ornament will be displayed in the hallway near the front office. We will also be working to raise money for the Hometown Home Health and Hospice. This organization hosts events such as their Lights for Love event supporting an individual in the state of Michigan that is chronically or terminally ill. We are hosting a Penny Drive Competition among our classrooms. The winning classroom will receive a Pizza Party. Don’t worry we will have a small prize for the other classrooms. Please help us to donate to this great cause!
Genesee STEM Academy brain break for students begins Monday, November 24th through Friday, November 28th. School will resume Monday, December 1st.
We need your support and attendance at our Parent Ambassador meetings. Please, let us know what time will work best for your schedule. Would you like a meeting immediately after school 3:45pm or 5:00pm? One of our goals is to increase parent engagement, especially in making decisions to improve our school. Please, plan to attend the next meeting scheduled for Tuesday, December 9th at 5:00pm. Light refreshments will be served. We will send out reservation forms to help us prepare.
Finally, mark your calendars for our Tuesday, December 16th at 6pm Winter Festival!
