Ms. Gilley’s Class
Welcome to Ms. Gilley’s classroom page!
May book reports due 7th – 11th
June book reports due 4th – 8th
We have been watching the eagles in Decorah, Iowa. We can already see that they are growing and changing! What are some ways that we can create a display of what we are learning? What are some questions that you have about eagles? Why were they endangered and what changes made them safer? What are some dangers that people still pose to eagles? What, if anything, is being done to protect raptors? Here are some links that we can use to help us answer these questions and others that we may think of.
HERE is the link to the Decorah eagles. Today I would like you to explore the page and see the information on it. With your center group make a list of all the information that you can find on the page and where the links take you. Why do you think that they included those links? (yes, I want you to write your answer down). Figure out who created the page and who keeps it updated.
Today we will begin a study of the environment. We will explore natural and human resources, ways that they are used and ways that their use is regulated. We will continue our exploration of activism through discussions of individual responsibility in maintaining resources. We will be working toward creating board games demonstrating our learning.

This is my second year working at Genesee STEM Academy and my first year in third grade. I will be team teaching with Mrs. Smith, she will be working with the students on Math and Science and I will be working on ELA and Social Studies. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you have at email@example.com or at 810-600-6466. When calling please keep in mind that I am with students the majority of the day and will return your call as soon as possible.
I recently returned to the Flint area from Macomb, Illinois. I grew up in the Kearsley area. I married into the Navy and spent much of my adult life moving around the country and the world. I have three children. My oldest son, Sheldon, works as a physicist in the D.C. area. My daughter, Cienna, is in her final year at North Central College outside Chicago and my youngest, Davin, joined the Army in June and is currently in school to work on Black Hawk helicopters. I enjoy crafting, reading, spending time with my family and my dog, Kaiser, and going to the beach. I look forward to working with you and your family!
