May 15, 2015 Friday Parent Letter

May 15, 2015

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Happy Friday!  It was a terrific week at GeneseeSTEMAcademy!  Ask your child about some of their class projects.  Mr. Lynn’s 1st grade class designed bridges utilizing their blueprints, rubric, and collaboration!  It was a competition between males and females with the males winning this time.  Their bridge included a draw bridge with the goal of being safe for vehicles to cross.  Ms. Lang’s 1st grade class completed their ecosystem project with cross section animals; for example “bearcox/bear and peacock”.  Their ecosystems, writing, and oral presentations were brilliant!  The 3rd grade applied their knowledge of the engineering process with Ms. Smith to design and build mazes!

We had the Dentist-R-Us visit this week and students received special dental care!  Thank you for your support.  We had 21 students participate a little short of our 25 goal, maybe next year.

Scholastic Book Fair was a success!  Thank you for purchasing books to encourage and support student reading, the key to unlocking doors.  The Book Fair ends Monday, May 18.

Spring Pictures are absolutely adorable!  Pictures should arrive home with your child today.  If you would like a retake please contact Mrs. Harvey and a date will be arranged.  Retakes are only if you participated in the Spring Picture program on Friday, April 24.

We have extended the Kindergarten Caps and Gowns order date to Thursday, May 21st.   This is the final date to assure arrival of Caps and Gowns for graduation, no exceptions.  Please, contact the office if you have any questions.  Kindergarten graduation is Friday, June 19th at 2:00 pm.

School Dismissal is a very busy time.  Please, make sure you drive all the way back and not park on the side near our entrance.  We want to keep traffic flowing and avoid any accidents.  We appreciate your support.
