March 27, 2015 Friday Parent Letter
March 27, 2015
Happy Friday! We’ve had an awesome week ending with a cool reading activity created by our phenomenal teachers! They dressed as characters for the book they read to children. Our students rotated to different classes and experienced a special reading time! It was truly delightful, stay tuned for pictures on our website and Face book page.
Our second Annual King and Princess Ball was fantastic! The GeneseeSTEMAcademy staff would like to extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who attended (there were over one hundred in attendance)! Thank you to Mr. Meredith for capturing the memorable evening with beautiful pictures and to Mrs. Legardye and Mrs. McCune for the elegant decorations. Thank you for your support!
We have completed most of our NWEA MAP testing with only a few make ups left for next week. I’m proud to announce most of our students showed significant growth in reading, math, and science! Our next MAP assessment will be held in June. Now we are preparing for the 3rd grade-6th grade M-Step Michigan assessment. Students will begin testing in April. A description of the test is included with our Friday letter; please let us know if you have any questions.
Parent/Teacher conferences continue next week; Tuesday, March 31st 4:30-7:30pm and Thursday, April 2nd 4:30-7:30pm. We sincerely appreciate the parents who have attended conferences and look forward to everyone participating next week. Our goal is 100% participation. “Teamwork Makes a Dream Work” our mission is to support all children to be successful!
School uniforms have become a serious challenge. When you chose Genesee STEM Academy there was an agreement for your child to wear our school uniform. There has been an increase in students not following our dress code, wearing jeans and various types of shirts. Failure to adhere to our dress code policy may lead to dismissal from our program.
We have GeneseeSTEMAcademy polo shirts available at affordable prices. Stop in the office to order your shirts for the entire family! We have other spirit items you can also purchase. Orders must be paid in full before we order. If you have any questions please give us a call.
Spring Brain Break begins Friday, April 3rd with NO SCHOOL. Our break goes from April 3rd through April 10th; students return April 13th.
