August 28, 2015 Friday Parent Letter

August 28, 2015

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Happy Friday!  We have successfully completed our second week of school!  The students started their STEM elective schedules this week.  They are learning how to engage in a successful learning experience in the Engineering Zone, Technology Zone, and Physical Fitness Zone.  We’ve had many new students join our family this week.  Thank you to all the parents who have recommended our school to their friends and family.  We are trying to reach our target goal of 325 students.  Please, continue to spread the word and help us hit the bulls eye!  Welcome to our new students and families we are delighted to have you join the GSTEMA team!

Our mission is to keep everyone safe.  Please, help us with arrival and dismissal.  When you arrive at GSTEMA use the parking lot in the rear of our building, avoid stopping at the curb side, which interrupts the safe flow of traffic. Thank you for supporting our arrival and dismissal procedures, things are running smoother and safely due to your participation!

Parents we need your support  to win a contest  for our school.  The prize is $10,000.  The link to win $10,000 is http://sweeps.labelsforeducation.com/?CID=GS2410.  It is an online raffle. The more people that visit the site and select our school the more likely we are to have a chance to win!   Anyone with an email can support our school and enter as many times as they want!  GO GSTEMA!

We have a new outstanding partnership with the BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF GREATER FLINT!  They are offering our students scholarships to attend their After School Program starting September 14th.  The program information is attached to the Friday letter.  We will work collaboratively with MTA to drop off students at the location.  Seats are limited, please contact the office for an application if you are interested.  If you are already a member and want to participate in their After School Program please let us know.

Next week will be our first Brain Break!  Students will be off Thursday, September 3rd – Monday, September 7th and return on Tuesday, September 8th.  Please mark your calendars.

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, September 9th at 8:30-9:30am Continental Breakfast with the Principal and Tuesday, September 15 at 6pm-7pm for our Curriculum Night.

Sincerely,

H. Rita Cheek
